Stay Connected To Your Why

Have you noticed how things just keep speeding up? If you answered yes, you may have also noticed our natural response to the pace is to speed up ourselves. One day you’re on track and moving efficiently through your work and the next you’re feeling like you don’t have any time and believing it. It’s true. We tend to match the pace and go and set the rest aside.

In times growth or challenge there can be a lot of benefit to matching the pace but waiting for a break in the schedule to reground yourself, will undoubtedly keep you waiting. Waiting and further narrowing the mental gap between you and your work.

No matter what quarter you’re in or what project you’re in the midst of, take the initiative to stay connected to why your work is important to you. Know why it’s important to the organization but feel why it’s important to you. Connection is created in your mind and it takes less time than you might think. Set a daily practice. Make it non-negotiable. A simple reminder for you, of the meaningful contribution you value, and the impact you want to make. What matters most is that you stay aligned with you.

Your experience in your career matters and when you’re genuinely connected, you’ll show up with the energy, focus and commitment that keeps you producing at a high level and feeling great about your contribution. Only your why can fuel you powerfully through the hard work and growth. Know your value and value your impact to stay aligned at any pace.
